More Unearthed

April 7th's RAW:Unearthed is fast approaching...

G Lounge

Leah got a sneak peak at G Lounge when she chatted on camera with host Erin Como.

Erin Como
"The place is posh" says Leah of the bank-turned-nightclub.  "Super swanky".

The interview took place in the Mogul Room (how fitting!), an old vault behind three foot thick doors, described as "the perfect place for business to transpire, relaxation to pervade, and experiences to be shared".

The Mogul Room
Leah talked about her beginnings, inspirations, and how she began the Vintage Vinyl line.  We also hear there are some choice sound bites from Leah, so we hope to catch this at the event!

Leah's profile is also up at RAW:Natural Born Artists, click here to view it.  And don't forget to buy your tickets for April 7th.

Order through this link, and make sure you've selected Leah Creation from the "Support your Artist" menu on the right side.  Everyone who supports Leah when they buy online will get a free gift when they see Leah at Unearthed!

  • Order tickets for RAW:Unearthed, Thursday April 7th at G Lounge.  It's a cocktail party/artist's showcase!  All local, featuring a musical performance, fashion show, film screening, art gallery, performance art and hair & makeup artists.  .Order through this link, and Leah will have a present waiting for you when you show up!
  • Start planning your outfit for Unearthed. Seriously!  This is a stylish, chic event, and you know Leah can always help with accesories.  Shop Leah Creation's Vintage Vinyl line at Smak Parlor in Old City or Nestology at the King of Prussia mall, or order online at Fashionstake.  And you can always email Leah directly at leahcreation@gmail.com. She loves custom orders!
Ok, Fabtime:
Motown necklace and earring set
We promised Leah a Motown post this week.  Isn't it obvious how much she loves that Motor City Sound?  Who doesn't?  Berry Gordy helped bring "black music" to the mainstream, but more importantly, he brought black artists to the mainstream, into everyone's living room (and onto their turntables, of course) at the height of the Civil Rights struggle.  The social and cultural impact of that can't be measured.

The enormous talent that Motown unleashed can't be measured, either.  These acts dominated Pop and R&B for decades, and their influence still lives on today.  We can't even list them all, and forgive us if we leave someone you love out, but sit back, crank up your speakers/headphones, and play these on full screen.  We're starting with two from everyone's favorite girl group, the embodiment of all that is FAB, the Supremes!

She's a Very Kinky Girl...

Leah has a video request for us: Rick James’s Super Freak!
Leah says:
“It's an album I listened to on my orange and beige Fisher Price record player...I was a funny little kid!”
Too funny!  We’re planning some Motown for Fab Friday tomorrow and thought about including this...Street Songs, the LP it comes from, was released by Motown and featured backup vocals from the Temptations (and a cameo in the video), but Super Freak really does deserve a post all it’s own.

If you’re looking to complete a Pimp-tastic update of Rick’s look, or even a smooth and suave Temptations redux, you can’t go wrong with any of these Leah Creation accessories.

Motown Pendant
Tie Clips
Eve Belt Buckle
And don’t forget RAW: Unearthed at G Lounge is just two weeks away!

This “cocktail attire” event features artists, designers and creatives of all sorts displaying their works through film, fashion, the visual arts and much more!

Leah Creation fans can order tickets at this link, and receive a special gift from Leah when they visit her at G Lounge!

Local artists wanted for Lingfest!

Everyone loves celebrating their birthday, and Leah is no exception. This year she's mixing business with pleasure, coordinating Lingfest with Philadelphia Flea Markets, and it's all for a good cause!

Anyone can come to the flea market starting at 10am June 4th at Jefferson Square Park and peruse the offerings of over 125 different vendors. Be sure to stop at Leah Creation, of course!  She will have her full line on display and will be available to discuss custom orders, as always.

Leah is looking for other artists and craftspeople to join her section of the event for Lingfest, a showcase of local artists and designers and their hand-produced, original works.

Leah is donating her proceeds from organizing this event-within-an-event to Girls Rock Philly, an organization "dedicated to providing girls from the greater Philadelphia region with a positive all-female musical environment" by sponsoring local Rock and Roll camps.  How cool is that?

An application and more info is provided here at this link, so print it out or email it to a friend who might be interested!

And for no other reason than to honor girls who rock, here's a few YouTube hits, starting with Leah fav Ani DiFranco!

Hello from Leah!

We just chatted with Leah and she told us all about her weekend:

"Our friend Kelly came up from Atlanta.  Friday I went out with my BFF Kate Carr, the one whose wedding I am going to in Rome.  We went to Barbuzzo and had an amazing dinner and wine.

"After we reminisced at her place with more wine and some of our old faves...Ani Difranco and the Indigo girls.  Music sure is a huge part of my life!

"This week I am working on wedding bands which will be worn throughout their engagement. A wonderful tradition I must say!

"I am also going on a walk through for Raw: Unearthed on April 7th, complete with a video interview.  Exciting!

"Also been working on housewares; switch plates and matching place mats made from the album covers.  These will be mostly custom orders."

We want to hear (and see) more about those housewares!

Leah also has a special video request that we'll save for later in the week...for now we'll reminisce along with Leah and Katie with this clip of the Indigo Girls on David Letterman from 1989!

Fab Friday

It's been another busy week for Leah Creation (this is why she needs an intern)...Leah was at the Plan B Art Party one week ago.  The event was a lot of fun, Leah saw lots of friends and made new ones, as always, and sold a few pieces, too!  Special thanks to Bookspace for hosting the event.

Leah is excited for lots of upcoming spring shows, especially April 7th's Unearthed event sponsored by RAW.  This cocktail-and-art soiree is at G Lounge, and the artistic offerings include film, music, a fashion show and more!  So come out, grab a drink and mingle with the artists and this stylish event.

Also, a special offer EXCLUSIVELY for Leah's blog, Twitter and Facebook followers: everyone who orders through this link will get a special gift from Leah herself, so don't forget to look for her at G Lounge!

Now for Friday Fabulousness:

Hall & Oates Belt Buckle
The Vintage Vinyl line features many different shapes and forms, so it's time we showed off one of Leah's many belt buckle designs.

And who's more fitting that those two Philly boys, Darryl Hall and John Oates?  We know this label looks familiar to some of you, since H2O sold over 2 million copies and featured the duo's biggest hit:

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Leah is celebrating her Irish heritage today, like many others (most not even Irish).

When most people think of St. Patrick's Day, they think of drinking and parades, but music is a big part of the celebration, too.

It goes without saying that the Irish have a rich musical history, but it's not all fiddles and bagpipes.

For your St. Paddy's Day listening pleasure, here are some Irish singers singing Irish songs...no "Danny Boy" in this lineup.

Fab Friday

T.G.I.F, y'all!  How's your weekend look?  Leah will be at the Plan B Art Party tonight at Bookspace in Fishtown with her full line for sale. This BYOB event is really shaping up with dozens of artists, performers and vendors and almost 150 guests confirmed, so check it out and be sure to look for Leah!

Next week we'll have news on Raw: Natural Born Artists Unearthed event that Leah will be participating in on April 7th at G Lounge in Philly (more info and ticket sales here).  Plus Leah needs an intern!  More on that Monday...Fridays are for fab things, so here's some Diana Ross fabulousness for you:

Diana Ross/"I'm Coming out" Motown earrings

A little Motown seemed fitting after yesterday's MJ post, and one of Diana's many self-assumed claims to fame was that she discovered the Jackson 5.  It was actually Gladys Knight who brought the Jacksons to the attention of Motown and Berry Gordy, but facts were never Ms. Ross's strong suit.  Being The Boss is what she does best, and her Diva-tude is on full display here (and she's still milking the Michael connection):

So sorry we missed the rest of this special!  Not only MJ, the Joffrey Ballet and Quincy Jones, but Larry Hagman, too?  This was 1980 so it seems even Diana was dying to know who shot J.R.  Have a great weekend everyone!
