Ling Forward!
Leah had a great day at Lingfest last weekend! There was a huge turnout for Philadelphia Flea Markets, and plenty of people mingled in the center of Jefferson Square where Lingfest was held. It was a great success for Girls Rock Philly! We hear the party afterwards was a lot of fun, too!
Leah is looking forward to a summer of more fun (and successful shows!)...she is taking all of her considerable energy and putting it into her beautiful work, and the awesome people it brings into her life! Thanks to everyone who helped make Lingfest a success!

Lingfest kicks off at 10am at Jefferson Square Park in South Philly, in conjunction with Philadelphia Flea Markets' all day outdoor Festival.
Lingfest will showcase 10 local art vendors (like these here) exhibiting handmade original art in a variety of media, as well as live musicians, food, flea market, raffles and more. Lingfest is free and open to the public!
GreeneHouse Studios, in accordance with our philosophy of encouraging young artists and giving back to the community, will hold a raffle in between music sets from 11:30am- 4pm.
Join the GreeneHouse gang after the big event for drinks and dancing at the 2nd Street Brew House (formally Raw Dogs) in South Philly, starting at 8pm. They offer rotating taps and extensive bottle selection.

Tattoo News
Right now Michael Jackson's Off The Wall is on display, but Leah wants Jerome Gunn at Tru Blu Tatu to add Diana Ross's Diana to the mix!
Of course this is an excuse for a long overdue video break. Enjoy the music, and check in this week for more news on Saturday's Lingfest!

Lingfest Spotlight: Break Away Ink Apparel
A wide range of local artists and designers will be with Leah at Lingfest June 4th! Check out Break Away Ink Apparel and their line of graphic t-shirts, hats and casual wear:
They have a great website (check out the lookbook), and their Facebook page sums up their philosophy:
The goal is to keep you folks walking tall. Walk on, walk strong. Break Away."
In addition to Lingfest, you can shop Break Away Ink through their website, or visit Nestology in the King of Prussia Mall. Check out Leah's line there, too! These looks would definitely work with a little Vintage Vinyl.Leah is still accepting applications from local artists and craftspeople looking to show their handmade items, with proceeds benefitting Girls Rock Philly. Spring-A-Ling
Leah's Spring calendar is filling up!
Tomorrow is the Tru Blu Tatu Art Show in Bristol, PA. Leah loves these guys, and they're celebrating their 6th anniversary with this free art show.
This FREE party features original artwork and crafts from over a dozen artists and vendors (including Leah of course), food & drink, and a just confirmed an acoustic set from our friends Clashing Plaid -- that alone is worth coming for!
Leah got inked by Jerome Gunn a few weeks ago:
"Jerome did an amazing job on my Fisher Price Record Player piece. The new addition is Michael Jackson Off The Wall album cover. It should be healed soon and pics will follow."
Saturday is the Prospect Park Craft Fair in Brooklyn. Held annually on the day before Mother's Day, local artists and craftspeople share and sell their handmade goods among the beautiful springtime park setting. Leah will be there, so if you need a last minute gift for mom, stop by!
Located in the Bartel Pritchard entrance drive to Prospect Park at 15th Street and Prospect Park West, the fair offers easy access from the 15th St./Prospect Park "F" train, B75, B69 and B68.
And Sunday, Leah and Jonelle are off to Italy for some much needed R&R. After that it's the Trenton Avenue Arts Festival, the Punk Rock Flea Market, and Lingfest, Leah's birthday party and fundraiser for Girls Rock Philly, held during Philadelphia Flea Markets' June 4th event at Jefferson Square in South Philly.
Leah is donating her proceeds from organizing this event-within-an-event to Girls Rock Philly, an organization "dedicated to providing girls from the greater Philadelphia region with a positive all-female musical environment" by sponsoring local Rock and Roll camps. How cool is that?
Lingfest brings together local artists and craftspeople to showcase their hand-produced, original works. There is limited space left, so please send your application and $45 fee via PayPal to Jonal814@gmail.com.

Coffee Break with Leah
Leah took a break from work (RAW:Unearthed is TWO DAYS AWAY!) to tell us about her weekend:
"Saturday evening after Kate Carr's wedding shower we saw the talented Johnell Lawrence (of Lawrence Strings) play with the New York based band TreZure Empire, at a place called Brothers Bar in Bryn Mawr.
"It was so much fun and the talent and energy on stage was incredible. We're hoping to have them on the bill for LingFest!

"Sunday, we went to Jennifer Arlia's Photo show at City Arts Salon at Sharktown. What a great day filled with meeting some very impressive people!
"Kenny White, photographer, hosted the show. His friends Mike Tyler and Montana were there to entertain us with their musical styling and sense of humor.
"Mike, who has worked with artist as diverse as Cypress Hill, Billy Joel, Nas, Fishbone, P-Funk and L.L. Cool J (and way too many more to mention) was recently honored with a Philly Urban Legend award for his work in hip hop! They are another LingFest hopeful!
"I also had the honor to meet Sherry Ruczynski. She is a great photographer and an all around nice woman.
"This week it is down to the grind!!!!! Along with making amazing product for Thursday I am juggling gettin my hair did and getting styled for the event by Abby and Katie of Smak Parlour. Their clothes are beyond amazing. They are going to make me feel beautiful!
We can't wait to see that look...have you thought about your look yet? Order your tickets through this link to show your support for Leah, and receive a free gift from her at G Lounge Thursday night!
Leah also mentioned she made a belt buckle from a Sugar Hill Gang record this week...here's your workday time waster from YouTube!

Fab Friday
Fab in a minute. First, your weekend checklist:
The enormous talent that Motown unleashed can't be measured, either. These acts dominated Pop and R&B for decades, and their influence still lives on today. We can't even list them all, and forgive us if we leave someone you love out, but sit back, crank up your speakers/headphones, and play these on full screen. We're starting with two from everyone's favorite girl group, the embodiment of all that is FAB, the Supremes!
- Tell your artist friends about Lingfest, Leah's birthday/event (does that girl ever not mix biz and fun?) marketing hand-made works from local artists, designers and craftspeople. Print out the application here, fees are tax deductible because this is a fundraiser for Girls Rock Philly!
- Order tickets for RAW:Unearthed, Thursday April 7th at G Lounge. It's a cocktail party/artist's showcase! All local, featuring a musical performance, fashion show, film screening, art gallery, performance art and hair & makeup artists. .Order through this link, and Leah will have a present waiting for you when you show up!
- Start planning your outfit for Unearthed. Seriously! This is a stylish, chic event, and you know Leah can always help with accesories. Shop Leah Creation's Vintage Vinyl line at Smak Parlor in Old City or Nestology at the King of Prussia mall, or order online at Fashionstake. And you can always email Leah directly at leahcreation@gmail.com. She loves custom orders!
Ok, Fabtime:

| Motown necklace and earring set |
We promised Leah a Motown post this week. Isn't it obvious how much she loves that Motor City Sound? Who doesn't? Berry Gordy helped bring "black music" to the mainstream, but more importantly, he brought black artists to the mainstream, into everyone's living room (and onto their turntables, of course) at the height of the Civil Rights struggle. The social and cultural impact of that can't be measured.

Local artists wanted for Lingfest!
Everyone loves celebrating their birthday, and Leah is no exception. This year she's mixing business with pleasure, coordinating Lingfest with Philadelphia Flea Markets, and it's all for a good cause!
Anyone can come to the flea market starting at 10am June 4th at Jefferson Square Park and peruse the offerings of over 125 different vendors. Be sure to stop at Leah Creation, of course! She will have her full line on display and will be available to discuss custom orders, as always.
Leah is looking for other artists and craftspeople to join her section of the event for Lingfest, a showcase of local artists and designers and their hand-produced, original works.
Leah is donating her proceeds from organizing this event-within-an-event to Girls Rock Philly, an organization "dedicated to providing girls from the greater Philadelphia region with a positive all-female musical environment" by sponsoring local Rock and Roll camps. How cool is that?
An application and more info is provided here at this link, so print it out or email it to a friend who might be interested!
And for no other reason than to honor girls who rock, here's a few YouTube hits, starting with Leah fav Ani DiFranco!
