Fab Friday

Fab in a minute.  First, your weekend checklist:

  • Tell your artist friends about Lingfest, Leah's birthday/event (does that girl ever not mix biz and fun?)  marketing hand-made works from local artists, designers and craftspeople.  Print out the application here, fees are tax deductible because this is a fundraiser for Girls Rock Philly!
  • Order tickets for RAW:Unearthed, Thursday April 7th at G Lounge.  It's a cocktail party/artist's showcase!  All local, featuring a musical performance, fashion show, film screening, art gallery, performance art and hair & makeup artists.  .Order through this link, and Leah will have a present waiting for you when you show up!
  • Start planning your outfit for Unearthed. Seriously!  This is a stylish, chic event, and you know Leah can always help with accesories.  Shop Leah Creation's Vintage Vinyl line at Smak Parlor in Old City or Nestology at the King of Prussia mall, or order online at Fashionstake.  And you can always email Leah directly at leahcreation@gmail.com. She loves custom orders!
Ok, Fabtime:
Motown necklace and earring set
We promised Leah a Motown post this week.  Isn't it obvious how much she loves that Motor City Sound?  Who doesn't?  Berry Gordy helped bring "black music" to the mainstream, but more importantly, he brought black artists to the mainstream, into everyone's living room (and onto their turntables, of course) at the height of the Civil Rights struggle.  The social and cultural impact of that can't be measured.

The enormous talent that Motown unleashed can't be measured, either.  These acts dominated Pop and R&B for decades, and their influence still lives on today.  We can't even list them all, and forgive us if we leave someone you love out, but sit back, crank up your speakers/headphones, and play these on full screen.  We're starting with two from everyone's favorite girl group, the embodiment of all that is FAB, the Supremes!
